Round Table USA

Taking part in the Round Table USA are around 30 German and bilateral institutions and foundations wishing to coordinate their exchange and cultural programs for and with the USA, ensure the use of possible synergies, keep their networks alive and, through the active involvement of their alumni with their broad range of interests, professions and talents, give the transatlantic dialog fresh impetus.

The reason for establishing the Round Table was the desire to go beyond a mere exchange of information, and to develop a new project. Among others it was the Alumni Conferences that resulted from these considerations. Four conferences have already been staged since 1998 in a variety of constellations with an interdisciplinary background, but also with a vocational focus. The Alumni Conferences are regarded as an "ideas market" - a workshop to which as many alumni as possible of all the different partners can contribute.

In 2008, the fourth Joint Alumni Conference on the topic of "Societies in Transition - Adjusting to Changing Global Environments" - jointly organized by the Dräger Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) - was held in Stanford, CA, USA.

In January/February 2010 the fifth Joint Alumni Conference - a conference just for journalists - on the topic of "Societies in Transition: Energy, Climate and Oceans - Impacts on the Global Economy" took place in Berlin, Hamburg and Copenhagen. More information can be found at Conferences 2010
